Who We Are
ABOUT US
Claire and Philip are a sister and brother team who were brought up on a working fell farm in Eskdale in the Lake District. Now based near Keswick, they
have worked together to create Active Art.
Active Art is a new, exciting and energetic experience, aimed at inspiring Primary and Preschool children to develop and grow with art.
Claire Grant studied constructed textiles in design at the University of Dundee before becoming a teacher of art in Oxfordshire for ten years. Claire specialises in various mixed media techniques incorporating fabric, paint, printmaking and photography and she is inspired by the countryside and the colours found within it. Her main passion is working alongside children, teaching them unusual and exciting art, inspiring them and helping to unlock their creative potential.
Philip Wake comes from a more technical background; he has a passion for photography and film including editing and production. He taught assisted technology and information technology skills for several years and enjoys promoting the exciting possibilities found within ICT. He encourages children to experiment with their imaginations, try out new technologies, and engage with the world in new and exciting ways, indoors or out.
