Keswick Alhambra Cinema have been carrying out extensive renovations to "Restore the glory"

The cinema has been continuously welcoming audiences since 1913. They have recently taken on the fascinating challenge of uncovering and restoring some of the original features as well as the original colour scheme.
 
This has been funded by an extremely successful crowd-funding campaign and the support from the local community has been fantastic.
 
The cinema has been encouraging local community groups to contribute to the restoration by creating a panel which will be displayed as one of sixteen on the front of the balcony.
 
Active Art will be collaborating with the Cinema and local groups to create these panels. We will be teaching them about the original techniques used to create the panels as well as the styles and designs of the time. Using the knowledge they have gained, we will create a panels with each organisation and display them on the balcony in the cinema.

The local community will have their own little piece of the cinema to celebrate!
